moths and butterflies

A newspaper article about the Natural History Museum was the starting point for these images. I was interested in the way that the cropped photograph effectively trapped the butterfly in its frame. The change of scale which enlarged the insects to the point that they appeared as if under a magnifying glass added to the strength of the image.

Each piece of glass is set into a handpainted frame and measures 27 x 27 cm framed.
